I always thought that all of Stephen King's novels were scary. I was so afraid to read any of them because I just knew I would end up having nightmares.

Then I was talking to a friend of mine who had just read The Green Mile - Six Volume Box Set and suggested I read it. I kindly refused and said there was not way I could handle one of Stephen King's books. She said not all of his writtings are scary-- What?? I had never heard that before. Stephen King has written some Not-So-Scary novels.

The story is compelling, the characters fascinating, and the fast-paced ending will leave you turning pages deep into the night. Plus, the VERY ending of the novel is one of the best that King has ever written. While I have often criticized King for his strange, open endings, The Green Mile manages to end on a very decisive, emotional note.
